New Step-by-step Dog Training Book & ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAMME

9781842861912_the_sit_down_come_heel_stay_and_stand_book.jpgInterpet Publishing has launched a guide to basic dog training which is fresh and modern with an original interactive theme. The new book, The Sit, Down, Come, Heel, Stay and Stand Book, by Claire Arrowsmith, includes a ‘pullout achievement programme’ for readers to follow and interact with. The guide allows puppy or dog owners to reward themselves with stickers as they reach crucial stages in the training process. The Sit, Down, Come, Heel, Stay and Stand Book is easy to follow and encouraging, whilst putting a fun twist to the important job of teaching dogs’ basic obedience commands.

The Sit, Down, Come, Heel, Stay and Stand Book pages are robust allowing the book to be taken ‘on location’ for training sessions. The book is wire-bound hardback, 215mm x 215mm and contains 20-pages with a 6-page gatefold (which holds the master plan and sticker area). The Sit, Down, Come, Heel, Stay and Stand Book provides a step-by-step training programme, training tips and motivation, stars and rosette award stickers. The 8-page foldout training achievement record makes the book particularly unique. The cover is very colourful too making bold use of primary colours.

In the book, each obedience command is presented on its own double-page spread. Each spread shows pictures of hand signals and a series of photographs and words showing each stage in the training process. The spreads provide all essential information encapsulated in a closely integrated sequence of pictures. Variations are shown for small dogs and TIPS at the top of each page. Extra motivation help is given as well as how to cope when things go wrong. Methods are suitable for all ages and breeds of dogs.

The ‘pullout achievement programme’ in The Sit, Down, Come, Heel, Stay and Stand Book is divided into three stages with 10 points in total for each command. A star is given for completing stage one and stage two and a rosette for the final stage three. This system is likely to help get all members of the family interested in their dog’s training.

The Sit, Down, Come, Heel, Stay and Stand Book author Claire Arrowsmith is a full member of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) and holds an Honours degree in Zoology and a Masters degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare. Claire worked with rescue animals and was the behaviourist at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People before beginning her own behaviour practice. Claire is also on the expert panel of Your Dog magazine answering readers’ questions.

The Sit, Down, Come, Heel, Stay and Stand Book has a suggested retail price of £7.99 and is available from Interpet along with a vast catalogue of specialist pet, bird and aquatic titles.
