Want to know whether a dog is overweight? Here's what to do:

Looking from on top, see if there's a narrowing at the dog's waist. No narrowing means he could be overweight.
From the side, look for a tuck behind the last rib. No tuck could mean he's overweight.
Feel for the dog's ribs. You should be able to feel them, but not see them. If you can't easily feel them, he may be overweight.
Feel for the ridges of the spine. If you can't feel them, he's probably overweight.
