kate_and_gin.jpgNow available from Interpet Publishing is a new book that combines the fascinating story of Kate Nicholas and her super talented dancing Border Collie Gin with advice on dog ownership and training.  This is a truly unique book that will appeal to the thousands of people who were captivated by seeing the duo though to the finals of ITV’s prime time series Britain’s Got Talent. Readers will learn about Kate and Gin’s amazing story that spans over six years and learn how to train a dog of their own!

Titled Kate and Gin, the new book is published by HarperCollins and distributed by Interpet Publishing. It is hard backed, 220mm x 155mm with a colourful cover and 162-pages. Born in 1991, Kate was given Gin as her first dog at the age of just 10-years. Kate immediately fell in love with Gin who turned out to be a remarkable dog and Kate’s best friend.

There are two sides to the Kate and Gin book. Aside from the real life human-interest story, readers will learn how to teach their dog tricks including how to dance. The book contains sequences of photographs of Kate and Gin that show the techniques used to train dogs to ‘bow’, ‘spin’, ‘walk back’ and ‘walk round’. Further chapters progress to more advanced moves such as ‘roll over’, ‘weave’, ‘beg’, ‘jump over a stick’ and even ‘walk backwards through legs’. The duo makes it all look so easy!

As Kate and Gin have become celebrities since their success on the high profile TV programme people will be keen to learn about their life and experiences. There are sections of the book written by Kate and others where the dog is the author. There are pictures of Gin at home (some as a puppy), in competition and in training. This book is really fresh and current making it ideal for the Christmas gift market.

Chapter one of Kate and Gin explores their special bond and covers owning a dog in general. The book helps readers choose the right dog for them and gives advice on feeding and care. Further chapters cover training and understanding your dog. Chapter four takes matters further to cover competitions, showing, obedience, agility, dog disc sports and of course heelwork to music. GINFORMATION panels throughout the book give snippets of advice, and bullet points are used to make the book easy to read. Using so many images in the book of Kate and Gin, both past and present, the publishers have been able to produce this personal and uplifting story.

Kate Nicholas is now at college finishing an Animal Management course, after which she hopes to train more animals, specifically for television and film. The book Kate and Gin has a suggested retail price of £12.99 and is available from Interpet Publishing along with a growing catalogue of specialist pet and aquatic titles.
